Movies are a staple of the world’s popular culture. We watch our hero’s and heroine’s gallantly strive towards a better tomorrow with only the most noblest of intentions at heart; we see a beautiful girl from across the tracks get mixed up in the wrong crowd, then through the joy and togetherness of cheerleader coaching, watch her as she realizes that she doesn’t really have it all that bad, getting her life together at the movies end without the forced hand of a man in her life. Or the story about the fair maiden being captured by the evil villain and the average Joe who goes after her, guns blazing, and fails but then, realizing the ninja that lie inside of him all along, he gets the girl then finds that she is his sister and goes off to live with creatures in the forest in the end.
That One Is My Favorite As you can see, movies affect us all in many deep, meaningful ways. They tell us stories, they make us think back across our lives, they open up meaningful channels, they amaze us with special effects, and they begin a dialogue, and make us examine not only ourselves but the world around us. Movies have lost a lot of their luster from days past; but that doesn’t make them any less meaningful and just because they happen to be more accessible shouldn’t take away anything from the experience of viewing an affecting film. \ The computer has compromised movies in some ways and opened them up in others. Now with all the information available online we can see for ourselves what the film will look like, get in a chat room and read what others have thought or think will be the downfall or uprising of this film, and hear what the actors, filmmaker, screenwriter or producer have to say about the film. We can also see free movies online. Whether they be spoofs, bootlegs, or ‘leaked’ copies of parts or the whole of the film, this is one of the things that’s lost in the viewing of films today; too much access. We can read reviews, see extensive trailers, and basically come to an opinion of the film before we’ve even set foot near the theatre. If we’re going to continue to watch movies, I say less talk! Go see a film and go with an open mind! See what you think and then draw conclusions. Don’t go trolling around for others opinions before you’ve even set eyes on the film as prejudgment is not what America’s all about!
