MIDI files are collected and stored in a computer file system. MIDI files are created using sequencing software from your computer. This software allows organization of MIDI messages into tracks for independent recording and editing.
MIDI is what real musicians use to record, edit, and share their music to both their engineers in the studio and ultimately their fans. MIDI files are able to be controlled from the source material. But when I think about MIDI, I wonder what MIDI means to me. MIDI offers drum samples, bass samples, multi track recording, and music sequencers to its users. This means that if you have any aspirations to make sounds all you’re own and you’ve reached a level beyond your own reverberation in the shower, then you should consider a step up to the big leagues. Many people would suggest caution and prudence in lieu of diving into an enterprise too quickly. But to them, I say, if not now, when? It would seem to me that caution and hesitance stifles growth. If you want to be a musician, begin thinking of yourself as a musician now! Not later. There’s no time like the preset to begin giving the world back your amazing sounds on a MIDI recorder. If you want to download free MIDI files, that’s all well and good; better still if you find yourself uploading your own MIDI materials onto the myriad of a landscape that is the World Wide Web. If you’re looking still you should find MIDI downloads are available all over the internet. If you’d like to download some song, clip, or information you can just point and click. Whatever software you’re using should scan the material before it’s uploaded so if there’s anything suspicious, it should reject it. You can also visit trusted third party sites to get your stuff from one place so that it’s always legitimate. If you locate some free MIDI songs online and you’re interested and they’re available, I say, why not? So long as they appear to be above board, your MIDI software shouldn’t have too many problems authenticating them. Which gets us back to control; you’re in control of your own destiny. While the MIDI controls that are found on your unit can make or break your career as a musician, you shouldn’t stress it too-too much. After all, all life really is, is just a series of rehearsals. When you get to play that one big moment, I hope you’ll think of me.
